Hello. I'm Andrew Shannon, a self-taught painter from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. In nursery school I was known as ‘Andrew the Artist’, so I guess it's always just been a part of my nature. I have been painting on and off for as long as I can remember.
I now live on a small hill farm situated in the Sperrin Mountains. The Sperrins are designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the wonderful landscape is a fantastic source of inspiration.
Moving here has motivated me to spend more time behind my easel, developing my painting technique and style.
Portraits of people are my main interest. I love the challenge of capturing a true likeness of the subject on canvas.
I enjoy painting animal portraits and landscapes too, as I have always had a real fascination and love of the natural world.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my site. If you are interested in finding out more, view some examples of my work in the Gallery and have a look at the Commission section for information on commissioning a painting.
